숨 아카데미 런던

2001년 런던에서 처음 시작된 숨 아카데미는 2003년 설립된 숨 프로젝트의 원형이자 시작점이라고 할 만하다. ‘아트인런던’ 등 다양한 프로그램으로 한국 대학생과 기업인 대상의 글로벌 문화리더십 교육을 진행했다.

서양미술사, 아트 앤 비즈니스, 비영리 문화기관 운영, 국제 미술시장, 문화정책 이론 등을 현지 대학 교수, 미술관 및 갤러리 현직자의 생생한 강의로 배우고 현장을 체험하는 과정이다.

특히 ‘아트인런던’은 이화여대 여름학기 및 연세대 경영대 미술경영 수업으로 진행되어 런던의 다양한 문화 인프라를 체계적으로 탐방하는 기회를 제공해 문화 분야에서의 커리어 개발 동기를 부여한 프로그램이다. 현장 전문가 강의와 세미나로 구체적인 지식을 쌓고 프로그램에 참여한 이들 간의 네트워킹을 통해 이들이 글로컬(glocal)에 잠재된 문화예술 컨텐츠를 발굴, 기획, 양성할 수 있는 전문 인력으로 성장하도록 기반을 제공했다.

Founded in London in 2001, SUUM Academy serves as the prototype and spiritual foundation of SUUM Projects, which was later established in 2003. Through various initiatives such as “Art in London,” the academy has spearheaded global cultural leadership education tailored for Korean university students and business professionals.

The curriculum offers a comprehensive exploration of Western art history, art & business, non-profit cultural management, the international art market, and cultural policy. These subjects are delivered through immersive lectures by local professors and active professionals from museums and galleries, complemented by hands-on field experiences.

A hallmark of the academy, the “Art in London” program has been integrated into Ewha Womans University’s summer sessions and Yonsei University’s School of Business art management courses. By providing a systematic exploration of London’s diverse cultural infrastructure, the program motivates participants to pursue careers in the arts. Through expert-led seminars and networking opportunities, it empowers individuals to become specialists capable of discovering, planning, and nurturing “glocal” (global + local) cultural content.
