〈9817711〉전은 동북아시아 현대미술 담론의 폭넓은 연구를 위해 이 지역  현대미술의 유입과 발전과정을 살펴보는 전시다. 나아가 국가가 아닌 지역사를 중심으로 동북아시아 권역 내 전위 미술 형성과 전개와 사회적 배경의 연관성을 짚는다.

한국과 중국 영토를 합한 크기(9817711제곱미터)에서 따온 이번 전시 제목처럼 한국과 중국 현대 미술이 지역사적 특성을 기반으로 어떠한 동류를 형성하고 있는지, 또한 그 경계에 있는 조선족 미술의 경우에는 어떠한 역할을 하고 있는지도 살펴볼 만한 지점이다.

The exhibition “9817711” is a comprehensive study of contemporary art discourse in Northeast Asia, examining the influx and development of modern art in this region. Furthermore, it explores the connections between the formation and evolution of avant-garde art within the Northeast Asian area and its social context, focusing on regional history rather than national narratives.

Just as the exhibition title, derived from the combined area of Korea and China (9,817,711 square meters), suggests, it invites us to investigate how contemporary art from Korea and China forms a commonality based on regional characteristics. Additionally, it raises important questions about the role of ethnic Korean art in the border area, particularly that of the Joseonjok (Korean-Chinese) community.
